It’s so hard to reflect on the person I was in high school. I made friends and mistakes. I brought tears through laughter, joy and heartbreak. I thought I had really found myself quite a few times, only to realize the truth of an old statement.

There is a proverb that I have always loved, and an interesting story goes along with it. The earliest known origins of the phrase are traced to ancient Persia, but there is really no way to know. The story is always different, but a general version of it would go something like this:

“A Persian king ordered his three most wise and knowledgeable servants to come up with a phrase that will be applicable in any situation, for the rest of eternity. After much deliberation, the three men decided on a phrase, and presented it. It read: ‘And this too shall pass.’”

Depending on who you hear it from, the king asks for a phrase, a banner, a spear with the phrase on it, a ring, a crown, etc. And the men become sages, priests, monks, witchdoctors. Whatever.

Different cultures try and claim the proverb for their own (See The Bible), but regardless, these words are always true. No reason for writing this. Just had a lot on my mind.
